MUKUKĀ HOPE MUSOWA
BLACK CREATIVES AOTEAROA
Hailing from Zambia Mukukā is a local singer and songwriter whose music is rapidly finding its way across the NZ airwaves. She's actively involved with nine other Afro-kiwi creatives to create Phada (hopscotch) Project. This collection of nine songs about childhood memories creating and new and distinctive space to share stories as third-culture-kids living in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
Inspired by artists like India Arie, Alicia Keys, Lauryn Hill and Beyoncé, Mukukā studied Commercial Music at the Waikato Institute of Technology. Since graduating in February 2018, she has been working on her EP 'Autumn' (to be released July 2019) which celebrates black culture through the lens of self-care, love, family and friendship.
